Since its release a few months ago, the 4-door version of the all-new JK Jeep Wrangler has sold like hot chips at a winter footy match. In the USA, even Jeep’s marketing people are amazed at the positive reaction shown by Jeep enthusiasts for the ‘people-carrying’ model. We guess they could be kicking themselves - for not building a 4-door when the TJ was introduced way back in 1996.
Since then, a few body-building companies have added extra doors to very small quantities of the long-wheelbase TJ Wrangler.

A new magazine went on sale in North America this year. Named ‘Overland Journal’, the publication is aimed at people who use vehicles for long-distance touring and/or exploration to remote destinations, and shorter trips to escape the madding crowd.
Unlike Australian 4WD magazines, Overland Journal doesn’t carry stories about radical suspension modifications, engine enhancements, off-road competition or how many tinnies were emptied at the campsite. The emphasis is on adventure, discovery, self-reliance and having proper regard for the environment. Sort of a ‘National Geographic on wheels’.
With just 100 pages and only five issues a year, Overland Journal’s subscription fee of USD75 (including airmail) may seem too expensive. But you will get extremely well-written stories, great photo spreads, and a real appreciation of the incredible places around the world just waiting to be explored.
