ALL-NEW JK BUMPER SYSTEM

We have just fitted one of the new Rugged Ridge XHD front bars to our JK Rubicon. And it looks fantastic!

The manufacturer claims this is the most advanced, toughest, and flexible bumper system ever created. No other bumper can give your JK this many looks, as the modular design provides dozens of different styles; letting you build the bumper of your choice.

All components are constructed of heavy-duty steel and are powder-coated in textured black over tough ‘E-Coat’ undercoating, that will provide years of heavy-duty use. The centre section – available in non-winch or winch-compatible designs – has strong shackles fixed to the bumper by the bolts that hold the bumper to the chassis. For an extra dash of flash, there are optional shackle kits in polished stainless steel. The centre section has cut-outs, with welded rock guards, to suit the original Jeep fog lights.

For extra protection, a centre hoop (in black or stainless) and/or tapered end-caps (in black only) can be easily bolted to the robust centre section.

We have good stocks of these bumpers arriving in early March. But be quick as – if the US market is any guide – these are going to be an extremely popular accessory for the mighty JK Wrangler.

BUG OFF!

Radiators get all hot and bothered when they are continually battered by kamikaze bugs and flying stones. Even the famous seven-slot grille cannot protect the vital components from such unrelenting attacks!

Beautifully crafted in stainless steel, and moulded to ensure a perfect fit, these mesh grilles are available chrome-plated, or with a black powder-coated finish.

Simple installation and all hardware included.

Free delivery across Australia.

TAKE COVER

Made in the USA, and now available for the 2-door JK Wrangler, these bikini tops provide extra protection from the sun, wind and rain. Now you can have that ‘open air’ feeling without being subjected to the full blast of Mother Nature.

These superbly made tops fit between the top of the windscreen frame and the roll bar. No drilling is required.

A BRIDGE TOO FAR

OK, this photo doesn’t include a Jeep. But we thought you could ‘bend the rules’ and take a peek at it anyway.

It was sent to us by a Prado owner in Peru, who is thinking of upgrading the Toyota’s suspension so it can cope with the ‘washboard’ corrugations that pass for roads in many parts of his country.

We were tempted to include parachutes and air-sickness pills in the quote we emailed to him!

MATTE MATTERS

When John Laws, Australia’s most-successful radio host, took delivery of new Range Rover in the 1970s, he sent it straight to a repair shop and had it repainted in drab olive. His friends thought he was mad.

But Laws may have been was way ahead of time. Some US auto manufacturers are gearing up to release a few of their top-spec luxury vehicles in matte finishes. According to the auto marketing people, the latest paint technology allows a non-reflective coating that is as resistant to scratching and blemishes as full-gloss. And, without the reflections, the matte surface is said to better highlight the actual lines of the vehicle.

Of course, the enthusiasts and owners of wartime Willys MB and Ford GPW vehicles have known this for decades: A full-gloss ‘jeep’ just doesn’t look as good as a matte one.

BLACK LOOKS

Give your TJ Wrangler a tougher look by replacing the chrome headlamp bezels with black versions, and adding black inserts to exaggerate the grille slots.

The lamp bezels fit to the original screw holes, and the grille inserts simply snap into place for professional, rust free, installation.
